Content
To award the contract to the planning
consultant who will advise and represent Waverley throughout the
development of, engagement and the submission of the planning
application for the affordable housing scheme at 69 High Street,
which will deliver up to 13 new homes to residents in
Waverley
Reasons for the decision
The appointment of an external planning
consultant is required to ensure that the Council has access to the
specialist expertise to progress the residential development
project efficiently and in full compliance with statutory planning
requirements. An independent consultant will provide objective
advice, support the preparation of high-quality planning
documentation, and represent the Council throughout the public
engagement and planning application process. Their involvement will
be ensuring transparency where the Council acts as both applicant
and promoter of the development.
Alternative options considered
Not having a contract in place would risk that
the planning strategy, documentation, or submission may not fully
comply with national and local planning policy requirements,
increasing the likelihood of delay or refusal.
