The Local Scrutiny Committee is a statutory body responsible for overseeing the work of the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) and its Mayor. Its primary role is to hold decision-makers to account and improve the quality of WMCA decisions.

The committee scrutinises all WMCA functions by making recommendations to the WMCA Board and other committees, and by calling in decisions for further review. This oversight applies to planned, ongoing, and implemented activities.
