RESOLVED: Cabinet approved and
adopted the Tree and Woods Strategy including its
appendices.
 
REASONS RESOLVED:
1.    
It is desirable for the Council to have a clear
strategy for the trees and woods of West Northamptonshire,
reflecting its overall aims.
2.    
The strategy has been the subject of widespread
engagement and consultation and has widespread support.
 
ALTERNATIVE OPTIONS:
1.    
The Council could at this point decide not to adopt
the Strategy. This would leave it with no coherent basis for
decision-making on trees and woods and would disappoint those who
contributed to the engagement and consultation and overwhelmingly
supported the proposals. This is not, therefore
recommended.
2.    
The Council could make further changes to the draft
Strategy. At present, given the results of the consultation, no
further changes which would improve it have been
identified.
3.    
The Council could adopt the Strategy. That should
secure the benefits identified and show the Council responding
positively to the results of the public engagement and
consultation.
