RESOLVED:
Cabinet;

1.    
Noted the contents of the annual report and approve its
publication forthwith.

2.    
Approved the adoption of the SACRE Model Code of Conduct to
be reflected in the Constitution with any complaints received being
determined by the Council’s Monitoring Officer in
consultation with one of the Council’s Independent Members
appointed pursuant to Section 28 of the Localism Act 2011.
 
 
REASONS
RESOLVED:

1.    
The Education Reform Act 1988 states that one of
SACRE’s statutory duties is to:
•                    
Publish an annual report on its work.
•                    
Send the report to the Secretary of State for
Education.
•                    
Make it available to the public, including schools, teacher
training institutions, and other key stakeholders.
 

2.    
The Constitution currently refers to the Representative
Members being expected to act and behave in accordance with the
principles and spirit of the Local Authority’s Code of
Conduct for elected members. However, there is a published SACRE
Model Code of Conduct which it is considered more appropriate to
apply to the behaviour of SACRE Representative Members.
