RESOLVED: Cabinet;

a.              
Approved the lowering of the admissions age range at
Hunsbury Park Primary School, from 4 -11 years to 2-11 years, to
enable the school to offer early years and wraparound care for
children aged 2-4, from Monday, 23 September 2024; and

b.              
Considered all responses received to the public
consultation held between 13 August and 10 September 2024. The full
results of this will be added as an addendum to this paper on 11
September. This paper was submitted ahead of the consultation
ending due to the exceptional nature of the sudden closure and the
urgent need for families to be able to access early years and out
of school provision during term time.
 
REASONS RESOLVED:
1.    
To comply with the statutory consultation
process
2.    
To ensure the Council can provide sufficient 2, 3
and 4-year-old funded early entitlement places, for universal
entitlement in the Hunsbury area.
3.    
To provide wraparound care for children in the local
area.
4.    
For children to benefit from high quality teaching
and learning experience and a provision led by the Head QTS
(Qualified Teacher Status).
5.    
To support younger children with a smooth transition
and integrated approach to school readiness.
 
ALTERNATIVE OPTIONS: Cabinet
must consider the following two choices relating to this
issue:
Do nothing. This would leave a
gap in early years provision in the local area. Approve the
lowering of age range at Hunsbury Park for families to be able to
have continuity of early years and wraparound provision.
