RESOLVED: Cabinet
a)   
Approved the request for an uplift of £2.2m in
the current budget, to be met through council borrowing in order
for the school to be built in time for a planned September 2025
opening date.
 
b)   
The total budget for the school will be made up as
follows:

*subject to approval and retrospective CIL funding to repay the
council borrowing element
c)    
Consider the plans for council borrowing to be
repaid through future CIL funding once the CIL infrastructure list
has been amended to include spend on creating new primary school
places
 
REASONS RESOLVED:

1.    
To accord with school organisation legislation by
ensuring that we have a sufficiency of school places for each child
that needs one.

2.    
If the new school does not go ahead, pupils will
have to travel to schools much further away as the existing
provision is currently full.

3.    
Objectives had been set for this project including
reflecting an extensive lesson learned process from previous
projects and notably the Council’s aspirations for a net zero
West Northamptonshire by 2045. The future Council (or customers)
will receive the maximum benefit from the option proposed as the
design ensures a net zero approach
