Purpose

The Constitution authorises Officers to make
decisions within the scope of their responsbility unless it is
required to be made by a Portfolio Holder or Cabinet.
 
In line with this, the Chief Operating Officer
has approved the appointment of the contractor for the
refurbishment of 2 Hollands Road.

Decision

The Chief Operating Officer has approved the
appointment of Lexden Contracts Limited to undertake the
refurbishment of 2 Hollands Road.

Reasons for the decision

Having discussed internally there is very
limited option to reduce this quote any further by making any
changes to the scope of works.
 
Requirement to inform the contractors by 7
February of the outcome of the tender process.
 

Alternative options considered

Stopping the project was discounted on that
basis that the property requires significant works to bring back
into operational use for the maximum rental value. There is strong
demand for this type of space and local members are keen to see the
site come back into use.
