The Standards Assessment Sub-Committee, made up of three members of the Standards Committee, reviews initial complaints about councillor conduct. It decides whether to ask the Executive Director of Law, Assurance and Insight to investigate further, take other action, or close the complaint. The Sub-Committee's meetings are publicised, but its reports and minutes are kept confidential due to the sensitive nature of its work.
