Purpose

To consider the comments received following the formal advertisement of a proposed reduction of existing speed limits on the A342 & A3102 in the parishes of Bromham and Calne Without, to include the following roads and to recommend an appropriate way forward.

·       A342 Devizes Road, Bromham

·       A3102 Bromham and Calne Without

Decision

I approve that:

(i)  The proposals be implemented as advertised.

(ii)  The objectors be advised accordingly.

This decision was published on Thursday 10 April 2025 and will come into force on Tuesday 22 April 2025.

Reasons for the decision

Alterations to the speed limits on A342 is proposed in response to concerns raised by the Devizes LHFIG on behalf of Bromham Parish Council and the local community.  Alongside the ongoing safety improvements on the A3102 including a speed limit reduction. An assessment has been completed in accordance with the relevant Department for Transport Guidance and the proposals meet the expectation of this.

Alternative options considered

To:

(i)             Implement the proposals as advertised.

(ii)            Implement the proposals as advertised with amendments.

(iii)          To abandon the proposals.
