Purpose

To consider representations made to the advertisement of a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) in relation to a proposed 20mph speed limit along Frogmore Road, Slag Lane, Hawkeridge Road, Westbury, and to recommend an appropriate way forward.

Decision

I approve that:

(i)  The proposals be implemented as advertised.

(ii)  The objectors be advised accordingly.

This decision was published on 10 April 2025 and will come into force on 18 April 2025.

Reasons for the decision

To improve road safety and promote active travel for pedestrians using Frogmore Road, Slag Lane, Hawkeridge Road in Westbury, following concerns raised by the local community to Westbury Town Council and LHFIG.

The proposal has the support of the locally elected member, Westbury Local Highway Footway Improvement Group (LHFIG) and Area Board.

Westbury Town Council Highways, Planning and Development committee meeting on Monday 21st October 2024, the councillors noted and considered the proposed 20mph Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) for Frogmore Road, Hawkeridge Road and Slag Lane. The Councillors agreed they had no response or comments to provide.

Alternative options considered

To:

(i)             Implement the proposal as advertised.

(ii)            Implement the proposal as advertised with amendments.

(iii)           Abandon the proposal.
