Decision

Resolved:

That Cabinet recommends that Full Council adopt the Air Quality Supplementary Planning Document (SPD).

Reason for decision:

The Air Quality SPD is an important measure identified in the council’s Air

Quality Action Plan.

The adoption of the SPD will allow the council to comply with its duty under

section 83A(5) of the Environment Act 1995 (as amended) ‘to secure the achievement, and maintenance, of air quality standards and objectives’ within Wiltshire by ensuring that:

•       our AQMAs are protected from a worsening of air quality due to future development

•       we achieve our goal to bring levels of harmful pollutants down so we are able to revoke all our AQMAs in the future

•       we are being proactive to help prevent the creation of new AQMAs
