Purpose
To consider the comments received following the formal advertisement of a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO hereafter) proposing the introduction of50mph speed limit on the A361 at Caen Hill, Devizes and recommend a way forward.
Decision
Following consultation with officers I give notice that I intend to make the decision set out in the attached report. If you would like to make any representations to me on this issue, please do so by 21 July 2026.
Reasons for the decision
The Council’s proposals have a good level of support and combined with road safety improvements will positively contribute to collision reduction at this location.
The proposals are in accordance with Priorities 2, 5 and 7 of the Council’s Business Plan.
Alternative options considered
To:
(i) Implement the proposed TRO as advertised.
(ii) Amend the proposed TRO in consideration of the comments received
(iii)Abandon the proposals.
