Purpose

1.     To consider the comments received following the formal advertisement of a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO hereafter) proposing to extend the 30mph speed limit on the road known as C251, Stockley and implement a new 40mph speed limit on Church Road, Heddington, near Calne.

2.     To recommend proceeding with the introduction of the TRO as advertised.

Decision

Following consultation with officers I give notice that I intend to make the decision set out in the attached report. If you would like to make any representations to me on this issue please do so by Thursday 6 August 2026.

This decision was published on Thursday 30 July 2026 and will come into force on Friday 7 August 2026.

Reasons for the decision

1. The Councils proposals are supported by the elected Wiltshire Council Member, Heddington Parish Council and all the correspondents who responded during the consultation period.

1. The proposals are in accordance with Priorities 2, 5 and 7 of the Council’s Business Plan.

                        I.         Implement the proposed TRO as advertised

                      II.         Amend the proposed TRO in consideration of the comments received

                     III.         Abandon the proposals
