Purpose

This report seeks the
authorisation to extend the extend the contract for the Intelligent
Transport Systems, Maintenance and Supply between the Council and
Yunex Traffic Limited for a period of 12 months commencing on
1st April 2025.
 
The report supports
the implementation of the Council Plan: Wirral Working Together
2023 – 27 and specifically the themes: Protecting our
Environment, safe, resilient and Engaged Communities and Efficient,
Effective and Accessible Council.
 
 

Decision

The Director for Neighbourhood Services has
approved the extension of the Contract for the Supply and
Maintenance of Intelligent Transport Systems
with
Yunex Traffic Limited for a period of 12 months commencing on
1st April 2025 with a contract extension value of
£1,274,000.
 

Reasons for the decision

Extending the contract
ensures the on-going maintenance of the Council’ s traffic
signal and associated equipment asset in accordance with its
statutory duty.
 
It will enable new equipment
to be ordered and installed as part of on-going Capital or Grant
funded schemes, such as the Liverpool City Region Sustainable
Transport Settlement and the Future High Streets Fund
schemes.
 
The
Council will remain aligned with the other Liverpool City Region
local authorities that use the same contract.
 

Alternative options considered

The Council could
decide to undertake a procurement tendering exercise which would
require the necessary resources and result in the Council no longer
being aligned with the other local authorities in the Liverpool
City Region.
