Purpose

A proposal to phase of pay and display
machines driven by the 3G network shutdown, rising maintenance
costs, and the popularity of smartphone parking apps for
convenience and lower running costs.

Decision

RESOLVED: That the Environment, Climate Emergency and
Transport Committee approves (7:2): 

 

the principle of
the de-commissioning of pay and display parking payment machines in
a rolling programme with the aim to complete the whole process by
the end of the financial year 2029-30 with a view to
providing alternative payment methods in accordance with the
sequence referred to in Section 3.6 of the report;
and 

authorise the
Director of Neighbourhoods to take all necessary steps to implement
the de commissioning of pay and display parking payment machines as
referred to in recommendation 1.
