Purpose

To recommend to Council a Generative
Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy.

Content

The Executive Resolved

That (i)   further in-person training for users on the
use of Copilot and other AI tools be noted;

       
(ii)   Officers to explore and
clarify the availability of full Microsoft 365 and Copilot access
for Councillors;

       
(iii)  alternatives to the single vendor
model, with only Copilot as a permitted tool, be kept under review;
and

The Executive Recommended to Council

That the Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Policy, attached as Appendix 1 to the report, be adopted, subject
to the amendments agreed by the Executive.

Reason:  To ensure that Council employees, Members and third parties using
generative AI tools when carrying out Council business do so in a
lawful, secure, and ethical manner which is aligned to Council
values, information governance requirements, and statutory
duties.
