Purpose
The School Admissions Code (Sept 2021),
published by the Department for Education, requires all admission
authorities to consult on their admission arrangements if they are
seeking to make changes from the previous year or if the
arrangements have not been consulted on for at least 7 years.
Consultation will be taking place for a minimum of 6 weeks between
1 October 2024 and 31 January 2025 for proposed changes to the
admission arrangements for community and voluntary controlled
schools in Wokingham for the school year 2026/27. Executive will be
asked to determine the final arrangements which must be determined
by 28 February 2025.
Content
RESOLVED
that the Executive approved that;
1. The proposed Admission
Arrangements be formally agreed (determined) for school admissions
for the school year September 2026 to August 2027. This includes
the reduction in PANs for eight schools, to support overall
improvement, effectiveness and financial stability at these
schools,
2. Agreed for the report to be
finalised for publication, including incorporation of statutory
changes and non-material amendments and updates as required to the
published version and that
3. If there were no substantial
changes to the arrangements in future years, the Executive
delegates authority to the Director Of Children’s Services to
determine these arrangements, in consultation with the Lead Member
for Children’s Services.
