Purpose

For the Executive Member Decision for Housing
to respond to the consultation on ‘Awaab’s Law:
Consultation on timescales for repairs in the social rented
sectors’ via an IEMD. Awaab's Law, enacted through Clause 42
of the Social Housing (Regulation) Act, introduces requirements for
landlords to ensure the safety and decency of social rented homes.
The consultation seeks feedback on specific aspects such as
timescales for investigations and repairs, emergency protocols, and
record-keeping obligations.

Content

That the Executive Member for Housing authorised Wokingham
Borough Council’s response to this consultation as set out in
Enclosure I of this report. This response was submitted as an
Interim Position Statement on 5th March 2024.
