Purpose

This report sets out a proposal to use the vacant old library building at Denmark Street, Wokingham as a Post-16 SEND Hub. A detailed examination of options has been undertaken and is included within the body of the report. The proposal meets multiple council priorities, including promoting positive outcomes for young people with SEND; utilising vacant or underused assets; and reducing future costs in the Council High Needs Block budget.

RESOLVED that the Executive:   1)    noted the business case and options appraisal for a new Post-16 SEND Hub in Wokingham;   2)    agreed the funding and financial implications as set out in the report; and   3)    allocated the first floor of the former library on Denmark Street, Wokingham as the site for the development of the Post-16 SEND Hub.   4)    request that the Children’s Services O&S Committee consider the project and provide their comments on the details of the project, the scope of the post-16 offer, and (when the details have been finalised) the implementation plan.
