Purpose

To seek approval for free weekend and evening
parking during the Christmas period to support late night shopping
and weekend footfall.

Content

1.    
Approved the introduction of free parking after 3pm for late night
shopping at Fold Street, Temple Street, Tempest Street, Peel
Street, School Street and St George’s Parade car parks from
Monday 8December to Tuesday 23 December 2025 inclusive.
 
2.    
Approved the introduction of free weekend parking on Saturdays and
Sundays between 6 December and 21 December at Temple Street,
Tempest Street, Peel Street, School Street and St George’s
Parade car parks.
3.    
Noted that Broad Street car park will also remain free after 5pm up
until 5 January 2026.
4.    
Approved an allocation from the Our City Our Plan Reserve to
mitigate the reduced income anticipated from the proposals above
estimated to be up to £40,000.
