Purpose
To review the outcomes of consultation on the
proposed expansion and make a final decision.
Content
1.
That Cabinet formally considered the outcomes of the
Initial Consultation and Formal Consultation (Representation) on
the proposed expansion of Green Park School, in accordance with
statutory guidance.
2.
That the proposed prescribed alteration to Green
Park School in accordance with section 19(1) of the Education and
Inspections Act (2006) and The School Organisation (Prescribed
Alterations to Maintained Schools) (England) Regulations 2013 be
approved.
3.
That it be noted, under Section 14
of the Education Act 1996, the Local Authority (LA) has a statutory
duty to:
a.
ensure that sufficient school places are available
within their area for every child of school age whose parents wish
them to have one;
b.
to promote high educational standards, to ensure
fair access to educational opportunity, and;
c.
to help fulfil every child’s educational
potential.
The LA must also ensure that there are sufficient schools in its
area and promote diversity and parental choice. In addition, there
is a statutory duty in the Children and Families Act 2014 requiring
LAs to keep provision for children and young people with Special
Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) under review (including
its sufficiency).
