Purpose

To provide an update regarding demand for
secondary school places and seek necessary approvals to facilitate
the introduction of required additional capacity.

Content

1.    
That the commencement of a period of initial consultation required
under statutory processes on the proposed expansion of Colton Hills
Community School be approved.

 

2.    
That authority be delegated to the Cabinet Member for Children,
Young People and Education, in consultation with the Executive
Director of Families, to consider the outcome of initial
consultation on the proposed expansion of Colton Hills Community
School and to determine whether to proceed to Formal Consultation
(Representation).

 

3.    
That it be noted, the outcomes of both initial and formal
consultation (Representation) on the proposed expansion of Colton
Hills Community School would be presented at a future Cabinet
meeting for a final decision.

 

1.    
That it be noted, in light of recent secondary expansion
programmes, that practical opportunities to continue to expand the
existing estate are significantly constrained.
