Purpose
To provide Executive Board with feedback on the recent
consultation relating to the Dee Valley Federation of Schools. To seek approval
to publish the relevant Statutory Notice.
Content
RESOLVED –
(i) That the consultation feedback contained
in the post consultation feedback report at Appendix 2 of report COEEI/01/26
regarding proposals to consult on the Dee Valley Federation of Schools be
noted.
(ii) That Officers be authorised to proceed to
Statutory Notice (Appendix 1) regarding the proposal to discontinue Froncysyllte CP from 31 August 2026, or sooner should
pupil numbers fall to zero.
(iii) That this matter be dealt with as an
urgent item of business in accordance with Section 5 (Rule 5.8.10(m)) of the
Council’s Constitution.
(iv) That a further report be submitted in June
2026 to detail feedback from the objection period and seek approval for a
preferred way forward.
Reasons for Decisions
(i) To explore options available to the Dee
Valley Federation of schools and ensure sustainability in the immediate future.
(ii) To provide the most effective and
efficient education services for pupils.
(iii) To ensure
that the Council complies with its duty to monitor the demand for school places
and ensure viability of the school estate.
(iv) To ensure that
the item is dealt with as an urgent item of business to comply with timescales
for response outlined in the Welsh Government’s School Organisation Code
(statutory code document 011/2018).
