RESOLVED –

(i)         That
the Head of Environment and Technical Services, in consultation with the Lead
Member for Housing (Climate Champion), be authorised to undertake a scoping
review of all of the Council’s fleet considering usage, management and current
and future demands.

(ii)        That
a further report be brought back before Executive Board in April 2024
considering the results of the scoping review as a precursor to the formal
development of a Council-wide Fleet Strategy.

Reasons for decisions

(i)         To
undertake an initial scoping exercise in order to capture the following
details: numbers of vehicles and staff using them, patterns of vehicle usage,
current management of vehicles, existing storage arrangements (to include
various depots and any vehicles which are taken home).  This scoping exercise will enable a better
understanding of the Council’s commercial fleet requirements, allow an
establishment of a revised baseline, and ensure that all current practices are
fully understood.

(ii)        To
enable services to continue to operate and utilise commercial fleet in a safe,
resilient and affordable manner.
