Purpose
To provide Executive Board Members with an overview of Welsh
Government’s guidance regarding Rapid Rehousing. Plans and to seek Member
approval of the Council’s draft Rapid Rehousing Transition Plan and its
subsequent adoption.
Content
RESOLVED –
(i) That the draft Rapid Rehousing
Transition Plan and supporting action plans attached as Appendix 1 to report
COH/06/23 be approved.
(ii) That the priorities outlined in
paragraph 4.43 of the report be supported and the actions endorsed.
(iii) That a further report be presented to Executive Board in March 2024 on
the work of the Housing Accommodation Project Group.
Reasons for
decisions
(i) WG
has issued guidance requiring every local authority in Wales to produce and
publish a Rapid Rehousing Transition Plan, which forms part of its Housing
Support Programme Strategy.
(ii) Adopting
the draft Transition Plan will ensure that the Council complies with national
guidance.
(iii) By having a Transition Plan in place, the
Council will be able to evidence the barriers that are currently preventing
homeless households moving swiftly from temporary to settled accommodation and
the plans that have been put in place to address them, in terms of housing and
support services.
