In accordance with Section 83 of the Local Government Act
(as amended), Councillor Andy Williams duly made a Declaration of Acceptance of
the Office of Mayor of the County Borough.

 

In accordance with Section 83 of the Local Government Act
(as amended), Councillor Beryl Blackmore duly made a Declaration of Acceptance
of Officer of Deputy Mayor of the County Borough.

The newly elected Mayor thanked Councillors Mark Pritchard
and David A Bithell for proposing and seconding his nomination and to his
fellow Members for their support.  He
also expressed thanks to Reverend Dr Jason Bray, for accepting the post of
Mayor’s Chaplain for the forthcoming year.  

 

He said that it was a great honour and privilege to be
elected Mayor of the County Borough and conveyed his congratulations to the
retiring Mayor and Mayoress, Councillor Brian Cameron
and Mrs Kerry Cameron, for their dedication to their role over the past twelve
months.  He wished them well for the
future.

 

The Mayor stated that he was looking forward to his year in
office and thanked his son Luke for agreeing to undertake the role of Mayor’s Consort
for the forthcoming year.  He announced
that his designated charities for the year would be Blood Bikes, Wales Air
Ambulance, Nightingale House Hospice and the Guide Dogs for the Blind.

 

In addressing the Council, the Deputy Mayor offered her
congratulations to the newly elected Mayor and his Consort, and thanked
Councillors Mark Pritchard and David A Bithell for proposing and seconding her
nomination.  She stated that she was
extremely honoured to be elected Deputy Mayor of Wrexham County Borough and
welcomed the opportunity to support the Mayor and Mayoress
to promote the Council and County Borough in the forthcoming year.  She thanked Dorothy Lloyd for agreeing to
undertake the role of Deputy Mayoress for the coming
year.
