Purpose

Sections 104 to 108 of the Environment Act 2021 legislate for Local Nature Recovery Strategies (LNRS).

The LNRS has been prepared by Lancashire County Council (LCC) and is a highly detailed document that describes the nature resource of Lancashire and establishes both broad and detailed priorities for local nature recovery. It is an evidence-based document drafted through active collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders, including Wyre Council and its residents through active participation in the Steering Group, workshops, public consultation and the task and finish groups.

As a supporting authority, Wyre was notified (3 December) through a pre-publication notice that the LNRS is to be published on 16 January. In accordance with the Regulations, this is to be agreed in writing by the supporting authority.

Decision

To support the submission and publication of the Lancashire Local Nature Recovery Strategy.

Alternative options considered
