Strategic Housing Investment Plan 2026 - 2031

Decision Maker: Formartine Area Committee

Outcome: Approve

Is Key Decision?: No

Is Callable In?: No

Date of Decision: September 23, 2025

Purpose: This report seeks comments from Committee on the draft Strategic Housing Investment Plan 2026-2031 which will be presented to Communities Committee on 6 November 2025.

Content: The Committee provided the following comments to the Communities Committee:   a)    The housing completions within the Formartine area were welcomed, b)    We need to ensure that all Services are giving due regard to Place when considering developments, c)    We should be mindful that we need to support independent living, d)    In terms of accessible housing, we should frontload these requirements as accessible homes can be used by all, e)    There should be more emphasis on one bedroomed property demand, albeit noting that those who need support overnight will require two bedrooms, f)      It would be helpful to know how many of the 795 persons on the waiting list were awaiting one bedroomed properties, g)    It would be helpful if we were able to draw down funds from the Aberdeen City Region Deal, and h)    In noting that there continued to be infrastructure constraints to building within the Formartine corridors, the Formartine Area Committee requested that the Communities Committee send a letter to the First Minister of Scotland and other organisations, to ask them to support the Housing Service to unlock the barriers to development in our area.
