Content: RESOLVED That planning application 2024/0406/OUT be REFUSED contrary to the Officer’s recommendation for the same reasons as previously given, these being that the proposed development would result in the loss of agricultural land (with its attendant economic benefits), which is a finite resource. The proposed development is close to a pig farm on Watery Lane. The newly provided information submitted regarding odour and noise from the pig farm did not provide reassurance that the residential amenity of the residents of the new homes would be acceptable and would lead to complaints which may force the pig farm to close. Policies DP7 and DP8 stating that developments must provide a satisfactory environment for housing had not been demonstrated. It was concluded that harms as identified would outweigh the benefits of the application scheme which were highlighted by the presenting officer. Votes – 11 for, 0 against, 2 abstentions.
