Decision

Motion - Bringing the Superloop SL15 to Mottingham and Woolwich

Decision Maker: Council

Outcome: Recommendations Approved

Is Key Decision?: No

Is Callable In?: No

Date of Decision: December 3, 2025

Purpose:

Content: This Council welcomes Transport for London’s consultation on the proposed SL15 Superloop route from Eltham to Clapham Junction but believes that the SL15 route should be amended:   To include a stop at Mottingham Station in both directions, adding only approximately 10-15 minutes to the service depending on the time of day in normal traffic conditions, and bringing a much-needed additional north-south bus link for communities in the very south of Greenwich borough To extend the service north beyond Eltham Station to Woolwich, to help bring the economic and amenity benefits of the Elizabeth Line to residents in the south of the borough   Council notes that in the wake of the non-delivery of the promised Eltham-to-Beckton bus route through the Silvertown Tunnel, optimising this proposed SL15 route may be the only significant opportunity we have to influence Transport for London to improve north-south bus links in our borough in the near future.   Council therefore resolves to continue to use every available means, in line with its consultation response submitted in November, to lobby Transport for London and the Mayor of London to add Mottingham and Woolwich to the SL15 route - and to invest in further improvements in north-south bus routes over the medium and long term in addition to this.
