Purpose: This report will review the progress made over the last six years of the Carbon Neutral Cornwall Programme and seek to refresh and affirm the targets and priority actions over the next 4 years under the new administration.
Content: DECISION: RESOLVED: 1. That the revised long-term ambitions and near-term targets be adopted for climate and nature across the three levels of Council action, as set out in section 2 of the report. 2. That there be a call on officers to develop a Cornwall Climate Adaptation Strategy, Marine Nature Recovery Framework and set out how the Council will deliver its near-term climate and nature targets through the development of a climate mitigation and nature recovery delivery plans aligned to the business planning and budget setting process. 3. That there be a call on the Members of the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Leadership Board to develop and implement the system level delivery mechanisms required to deliver the missions and actions set out in the Local Area Energy Plan and Nature Recovery Strategy. 4. That the Leader writes to the relevant Secretaries of State, setting out the powers and funding necessary for Cornwall to meet legally binding climate and nature targets.
