Purpose: Peterborough City Council is required under Section 40A of the Natural Environment and Rural Communities Act 2006, as amended by the Environment Act 2021, to report on its Biodiversity Duty. This duty involves taking actions, within its functions, to conserve and enhance biodiversity in England.    This report fulfils the Section 40A reporting requirement by outlining current policies and actions, with annual updates on progress, revised actions, and Biodiversity Net Gain figures. Cabinet is asked to recommend the report to Full Council for final approval.   

Content:  Cabinet RESOLVED to: 1. Endorse the updated Section 40 Biodiversity Report and the measures outlined within it, which replaces the 2018 Biodiversity Strategy. 2. Delegate authority to the Executive Director of Place and Economy, in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport, to approve and amend the annual action plan as needed to achieve policy objectives. 3. Refer the Strategy to Full Council, for approval, as part of the major policy framework for consideration.
