The Tidworth Area Board meeting scheduled for Monday 15 June 2026 was set to cover a range of community matters, including funding applications for local projects, updates from key partners, and discussions on highway improvements. The agenda also included an opportunity for public questions and a community discussion focused on youth activities.
Key Partner Updates
The meeting was scheduled to receive updates from key partners, including the Ministry of Defence (MOD). Inspector Gavin Brewster of the Neighbourhood Police Team was also expected to provide an overview of local policing priorities. A community spotlight was planned, featuring an update from the Police & Crime Commissioner, Philip Wilkinson OBE, on the Southern Policing Hub.
Funding Applications
A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to considering funding applications. The Area Board had remaining budgets of £15,871 for Community Area Grants, £15,655 for Young People's projects, and £7,500 for Older and Vulnerable People's initiatives. Several applications were listed for consideration:
- Tidworth Area Youth Committee Projects: A request for £1,000 was scheduled to support small youth engagement projects identified by the Youth Council.
- Age UK Wiltshire: An application for £170 was to be considered for a
Daytime Discos
event for individuals aged 55 and over. This followed a previous award of £830 from the 2025/26 budget. - Army Welfare Service: A request for £2,500 was listed to support summer youth activities and a summer residential programme. This was a further request, following a previous award of £2,500 from the 2025/26 budget.
- Spurgeons Children's Charity Wiltshire: An application for £500 was to be considered for a
Street Sports
initiative at the Family Hub. - Collingbourne Ducis Parish Council: A request for £5,000 was scheduled for the Saunders Meadow Community Area project.
Additionally, a report on Delegated Funding Awards was to be noted, which included previous awards to Stand Easy Veteran UK (£300), Age UK Wiltshire (£830), and the Army Welfare Service (£2,500).
Local Highway and Footway Improvement Group (LHFIG)
The meeting was scheduled to note the minutes and consider recommendations from the LHFIG meeting held on 13 May 2026. Two specific recommendations were listed for consideration:
- Tidworth Town Council: A request for £2,000 for signage amendments at Dingleys Promise.
- Tidworth Town Council: A request for £2,000 for SNP Zouch Farm Close and Sidbury Circular.
Community Discussion and Priorities
The agenda included an Ask your Area Board
session for public questions, followed by updates on the Area Board's priorities. Lead Councillors were scheduled to provide updates on Community Safety & Crime (Cllr Dave Lumsden), Health & Wellbeing (Cllr Christopher Williams), and Youth (Cllr Keith Allen). A dedicated Youth theme
discussion was planned to explore youth projects and identify further opportunities for positive youth activities.
Appointments and Information Items
The meeting was also scheduled to address administrative matters, including the election of a Chairman and Vice-Chairman for 2026/27. Appointments of lead members to outside bodies and the Local Highway and Footway Improvement Group (LHFIG) were to be made, along with noting the Terms of Reference for the LHFIG. A series of information items were also to be noted, including updates from Community First, Wessex Community Action, the Connect to Work Programme and Skills Bootcamps, the Wiltshire Community Lottery launch, the Wiltshire Faith Communities Network, and the Wiltshire Council Consultation Portal.
