The Civic Government Licensing Committee of Scottish Borders Council is scheduled to convene on Friday, 19 June 2026. The meeting's agenda includes a review of licences issued under delegated powers and consideration of applications for Short Term Let Licences.
Licences Issued Under Delegated Powers
The committee's report pack details a comprehensive list of licences that have been issued under delegated powers between March and June 2026. These include a variety of licences for late-hour catering, marches and parades, market operations, public entertainment, private hire vehicles, skin piercing and tattooing, short-term lets, and taxi driver and vehicle licences. Notable events for which licences have been issued include the Melrose 7's rugby event, various local civic weeks and festivals across the Borders, and numerous funfairs and public entertainment events. The full details of these licences can be found in the Public reports pack.
Short Term Let Licence Applications
A significant portion of the meeting is dedicated to considering applications for Short Term Let Licences. Two specific applications are scheduled for review:
- 7 Heriot House, Heriot, EH38 5YB: The committee will examine an application for a grant of a Short Term Let Licence for this property. The documentation provided includes a summary of the application, a floor layout plan, the applicant's noise, nuisance, and anti-social behaviour policy, and details of any objections received along with the applicant's responses. The applicant has been cited to attend the meeting.
- 8 Rutherford Gardens, West Linton EH46 7AP: Similarly, an application for a grant of a Short Term Let Licence for this address will be considered. The report pack contains the application summary, floor layout plan, objections, and the applicant's responses to these objections. The applicant is also expected to attend the meeting.
The committee's proceedings will be livestreamed and recorded, with recordings available for public viewing for 180 days. The meeting is scheduled to take place in the Council Chamber at Council Headquarters, Newtown St Boswells, and will also be accessible remotely via Microsoft Teams. The full agenda for the meeting can be viewed in the Agenda frontsheet.
