Open Council Network is an independent organisation. We report on West Northamptonshire and are not the council. About us
The Adult Social Care, Health and Communities Overview and Scrutiny Committee is scheduled to discuss a draft suicide prevention strategy for Northamptonshire, alongside an update on the priorities and transformation activities of the Northamptonshire Integrated Care Board. The committee will also receive an update on St Andrews Hospital and review the council's Technology Enabled Care and Digital Strategy.
Northamptonshire Draft Suicide Prevention Strategy 2026-2031
The committee is scheduled to receive an overview of the draft Northamptonshire Suicide Prevention Strategy for 2026-2031. This strategy aims to provide a clear, system-wide approach to reducing suicides and the harm caused by suicide across the county. It acknowledges that while suicide can affect anyone, certain groups face higher risks due to social, economic, health, and life circumstances. The strategy proposes a combination of targeted interventions for these higher-risk groups and wider population-level prevention efforts focused on building resilient communities, reducing stigma, and improving mental wellbeing. The document outlines a phased approach to delivery, with ongoing actions and specific phases planned from April 2026 to March 2031. It also details how the impact of the strategy will be measured through quarterly oversight and end-of-phase reviews. Partnership working is highlighted as crucial, with the strategy overseen by the Northamptonshire Suicide Prevention Steering Group.
Northamptonshire Integrated Care Board - Priorities and Transformation
An update is scheduled to be provided to the committee regarding the strategic priorities and transformation activities of the Northamptonshire Integrated Care Board (ICB)1. Following this update, the committee will have the opportunity to engage in scrutiny activity through a question and answer session. The ICB is a key body in the local health and social care system, working to improve health outcomes for the population.
St Andrews Hospital Update
The committee is set to receive a verbal update concerning St Andrews Hospital in Northampton. This update will be provided by the Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Trust. A briefing note is expected to be circulated to committee members in advance of the meeting.
Adult Social Care Technology Enabled Care and Digital Strategy
The committee will receive an overview of the council's Technology Enabled Care (TEC)2 and Digital Strategy. This strategy focuses on a proactive and preventative approach to care, utilising technology to support residents in living independent, safe, and fulfilling lives. The strategy outlines how TEC can help people remain in their own homes for longer, reduce the need for more intensive services, and improve overall wellbeing. This overview is being presented prior to the strategy's consideration by the Cabinet in July 2026.
Draft Committee Work Programme 2026-27
The committee is scheduled to consider its draft work programme for the upcoming 2026-27 municipal year.
