The Brent Connects - Harlesden meeting on Tuesday 9 January 2024 addressed resident concerns regarding traffic and noise from JFR club on match days, parking issues on pavements, and composting initiatives. Decisions were made regarding the provision of information on dog mess fines and the legal opinion on using a third-party body for Public Space Protection Orders.
Traffic and Noise from JFR Club
Residents raised concerns about significant traffic congestion and noise disturbances on match days at the JFR club, including late-evening events. The Antisocial Behaviour (ASB) team has been tasked with alerting the match day policing team to these issues, with a due date of 14 March.
Pavement Parking on Craven Park Road
Major concerns were voiced about persistent pavement parking on Craven Park Road during afternoons and evenings, which is deemed difficult to effectively enforce through traditional means of issuing Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs). The ASB team has engaged in email discussions with residents and provided a full response. The meeting also discussed the suggestion of utilising a third-party body for issuing Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs), with an example cited from other boroughs where this has proven effective. The ASB team has requested a legal opinion on this matter, with an update to follow.
Composting and Dog Mess
Residents interested in composting leaves from pavements and public pathways are facing issues with dog mess. They have requested more information on this topic and whether CCTV cameras are used to issue fines for dog fouling. The neighbourhood manager and their team are to provide detailed information to the resident.
