The Planning Committee (Smaller Applications) met on Wednesday 13 March 2024 to discuss four planning applications. All four applications were granted permission, subject to conditions.
St Olaves and St Saviours Sports Ground, Green Dale, SE22 8TX
Permission was granted for the removal of an existing chain link fence and the installation of a palisade fence, including a double leaf gate, at St Olaves and St Saviours Sports Ground. The new fence will be 2.4 metres high, replacing the current 1.8-metre fence. The decision was made subject to conditions including tree planting details, an arboricultural method statement, and a construction environmental management plan.
67-71 Tanner Street, SE1 3PL
A minor material amendment to a previous planning permission was approved for the construction of a nine-storey hotel. The amendments include adjustments to window sizes, ground floor bays, the enlargement and repositioning of lift and stair overruns and plant enclosures, and the replacement of brick planters with climbers on a stainless steel frame. The committee granted permission subject to conditions and the endorsement of the original Section 106 legal agreement.
Doctor Harold Moody Park and Consort Park, Gordon Road, SE15 3RG & Consort Park, Gordon Road, SE15 3RH
Permission was granted for the refurbishment of Doctor Harold Moody Park and Consort Park. This includes connecting the two parks by closing the eastern end of Sturdy Road to motor traffic, transforming it into parkland. Works will involve remodelling mounds, new footpaths, seating, creation of meadows, a tiny forest, and specimen tree planting. In Doctor Harold Moody Park, the playground will be expanded and refurbished, with amendments to games court fencing, a new pump track, informal sports equipment, and cycle parking. The closure of the pedestrian entrance to Doctor Harold Moody Park from Gordon Road will facilitate playground expansion. Conditions attached to the permission include details on hard and soft landscaping, tree protection, a landscape management plan, site contamination, invertebrate habitats, bat boxes, and bat-friendly lighting.
Nunhead Cemetery, Linden Grove, SE15
Permission was granted for the demolition of the existing Friends of Nunhead Cemetery cabin and the construction of a new single-storey replacement cabin. The new cabin will be slightly smaller in height than the existing structure and will be clad in timber. Conditions include the submission of a construction environmental management plan, details of external materials, a hard and soft landscaping scheme, bat roosting features, and bat-friendly lighting.
