The committee agreed to explore strategies to mitigate false alarms, including public awareness campaigns and collaboration with local businesses.
Letters of Appreciation
The committee acknowledged the letters of appreciation received from various members of the public and organisations. These letters commended the fire service for their prompt and professional response to emergencies. One letter from the headteacher of a local school praised the firefighters for their quick action during a recent fire drill, which ensured the safety of all students and staff.
HMICFRS Action Plan Update
An update was provided on the HMICFRS Action Plan, which addresses recommendations from Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS). 2024-25 Target Setting Methodology
The committee discussed and approved the 2024-25 Target Setting Methodology. This methodology outlines the criteria and processes for setting performance targets for the upcoming year. The committee emphasised the need for realistic and achievable targets that align with the fire authority's strategic objectives. Councillor Paul Convery noted, Setting clear and attainable targets is crucial for maintaining accountability and driving continuous improvement.
