The Adults and Health Overview and Scrutiny Sub-Committee of Barnet Council is scheduled to meet on Wednesday 16 September 2026. Cabinet Forward Plan
The Sub-Committee is scheduled to review the Cabinet Forward Plan for 2026-27. This plan outlines upcoming key decisions that the Cabinet proposes to make. The Sub-Committee will consider if there are any items within this plan that they wish to scrutinise in advance of Cabinet decisions. This aligns with the council's commitment to being a listening council
and ensuring residents' voices are amplified in decision-making processes.
Task and Finish Groups Update
An update on the progress of various Task and Finish Groups is scheduled for discussion. These groups undertake in-depth investigations into specific issues. The report details the progress of groups such as the Food Security TFG1, which has been examining ways to address food insecurity in Barnet. This group has met with representatives from the Barnet Food Partnership and visited the Sufra Affordable Food Hub in Brent. The Allotment Management and Governance2 group has also been active, holding numerous meetings and providing training on allotment governance. The Fostering3 and Young Carers4 Task and Finish Groups have concluded their evidence gathering and report writing, with recommendations having been referred to the Cabinet. A new group, Flats and Flats Above Shops Waste and Recycling, is also scheduled for discussion regarding its scope.
Report from the Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Health
The meeting will receive an update from the Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Health. This report is expected to cover various aspects of adult social care and health services within the borough. Previous reports from this Cabinet Member have included discussions on the Health and Wellbeing Board's strategy, the impact of deprivation on health inequalities, and the work of community health services.
Joint Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee Update
Minutes from the Joint Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee5 meeting held on 30 January 2026 are scheduled for noting. This committee plays a role in scrutinising health services across North Central London.
