Open Council Network is an independent organisation. We report on Leicester and are not the council. About us
The North Evington Community Meeting was scheduled to undertake a Patch Walk
to observe and discuss local issues within the ward. The walk was planned to cover several streets, with representatives from various council departments and Leicestershire Police in attendance.
Patch Walk
The primary focus of the meeting was a Patch Walk,
a community engagement initiative where councillors and council officers walk through specific areas to identify and discuss local concerns. The walk was scheduled to commence at Sparrow Park, located at 2B Uppingham Road, LE5 0QD. The route was planned to include observations along Leicester Street, Green Lane Road, Kitchener Road, St Saviour's Road, Temple Road, Coleman Road, and The Portwey.
Attendees scheduled to participate in the walk included Ward Councillors Councillor Dilip Joshi, Councillor Ravi Mahesh, and Councillor Sanjay Modhwadia. They were to be joined by representatives from Leicestershire Police, City Warden services, Cleansing, Parking Enforcement, and Highways departments. The purpose of this collaborative walk was to allow for direct observation of the local environment and to facilitate discussions on any issues that arose during the route.
The report pack indicated that the Patch Walk Poster
was available as Appendix A for reference. This poster likely provided further details or a visual aid for the planned route and any specific points of interest.
The meeting was scheduled to adhere to specific conduct guidance to ensure productive discussions. This guidance included respecting others' views, staying on topic, allowing one person to speak at a time, and minimising disruption. Attendees were also reminded to keep mobile phones on silent and to avoid side conversations. Punum Patel, the Community Engagement Officer, was listed as the point of contact for further information regarding the meeting.
