The Bee Network Committee of Greater Manchester Combined Authority Council is scheduled to meet on Thursday 24 September 2026. The agenda includes discussions on the performance of the Bee Network, progress on transport infrastructure projects, and the council's commitment to achieving net-zero emissions.

Bee Network Performance Monitoring

A report from Danny Vaughan, Chief Network Officer at TfGM, is scheduled to provide an update on the Bee Network's customer and network performance during July 2026. The report is expected to cover the network's resilience during periods of extreme heat, bus punctuality, Metrolink punctuality, and rail performance across operators serving Greater Manchester. Updates on the Bee Network bus fleet, including zero-emission buses and depot electrification, as well as digital initiatives such as the digital Our Pass travel on Apple Wallet and the integration of rail services into the Bee Network app, are also anticipated.

Transport and Net Zero

Steve Warrener, TfGM Managing Director, is scheduled to present an update on progress towards the Greater Manchester Strategy's commitment to a greener, fairer city-region, with the aim of achieving a fully integrated, zero-emission public transport system by 2030. The report is expected to cover the selection of a preferred supplier for a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement to provide renewable energy for Metrolink and progress in decarbonising the Bee Network bus fleet, supporting Greater Manchester's carbon neutrality commitment by 2038.

Transport Infrastructure Pipeline Funding Allocations

Chris Barnes, Interim Infrastructure Delivery Director at TfGM, is scheduled to present an overview of the current transport infrastructure pipeline and propose recommendations for revenue and capital allocations. This includes proposals for consolidating revenue funding to support future scheme development, allocating capital headroom for Highways Maintenance across the 10 Local Authorities, and allocating Active Travel funding to support the Active Travel programme. These proposals are subject to consideration by the GMCA on 25 September 2026.

Transport Infrastructure Pipeline

Chris Barnes is also scheduled to present a report providing an update on the progress of delivering transport infrastructure improvements to support the Bee Network. The report is expected to detail recent progress and key milestones, and seek approval for the drawdown of Integrated Settlement (CRSTS) funding for various schemes, including pedestrian crossing upgrades, bus strategy improvements, station enhancements, and active travel initiatives. The report will also seek approval for the drawdown of Highways Maintenance funding and revenue resources, subject to GMCA approval.

Appointments to Outside Bodies

Committee members will be asked to consider whether they wish to put themselves forward for one of three vacancies on the Greater Manchester Accessible Transport Board.
