The Licensing Sub-Committee of Doncaster Council was scheduled to consider several applications for Hackney Carriage and Private Hire licences. These included reviews of existing licences for both drivers and vehicles, as well as applications for new driver licences.

Review of Existing Hackney and Private Hire Licences

The committee was scheduled to review several existing Hackney Carriage and Private Hire licences for both drivers and vehicles. These reviews were to be conducted under paragraph 1 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972, which allows for the exclusion of the public and press when information relating to an individual is likely to be disclosed.

One such review, scheduled for 10:00 am, involved both a driver's licence and a vehicle licence. Another review, scheduled for 12:00 pm, also concerned an existing Private Hire Drivers Licence and an Existing Private Hire Vehicle Licence. The report pack indicated that these reviews would assess whether the applicants were considered 'fit and proper' persons to hold their licences.

Applications for New Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Driver Licences

The sub-committee was also scheduled to consider applications for new Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Driver Licences. Two such applications were listed: one at 10:30 am and another at 11:30 am. Similar to the licence reviews, these applications were to be considered under the provisions of the Local Government Act 1972, allowing for the exclusion of the public and press due to the personal nature of the information involved. The report pack would have outlined the circumstances leading to these applications and the criteria for determining suitability.
