The Passenger Transport Liaison Group was scheduled to discuss public transport passenger safety, updates on step-free access projects for the Underground, and the quality of service indicators for buses. Additionally, the group was set to receive updates from Network Rail regarding improvements at Wandsworth Town and Queenstown Road stations.

Public Transport Passenger Safety

The group was scheduled to discuss matters relating to public transport passenger safety within Wandsworth. A previous update on Safe Spaces: Clapham Junction Station was noted in the minutes of the March meeting, with a further written update to be provided at a later date.

Buses

An update on bus quality of service indicators was scheduled to be received and noted. The report pack included detailed statistics for the first quarter of the 2026/27 financial year, covering both high-frequency and low-frequency services across the London Borough of Wandsworth. These indicators provide information on aspects such as scheduled waiting time, excess waiting time, and the probability of a bus departing on time. The report pack also highlighted specific routes, including the G1 bus route, where previous issues related to electric vehicle deliveries and mechanical problems had been resolved, leading to improved performance. However, feedback from local residents regarding reduced frequency on the G1 route was also noted.

Trains and Overground

Updates were expected from Network Rail regarding two key station improvement projects. At Wandsworth Town Station, the 'Access for All' programme and the development of a new second entrance were on the agenda. The report pack indicated that enabling works for platform lifts were underway, with a temporary bridge to connect platforms and the eventual construction of the new entrance. Phased changes to train services were anticipated during the construction period.

Network Rail was also scheduled to provide an update on the construction of a second entrance at Queenstown Road Station. Civil works were reported to be in progress, with managerial approvals being sought. Mitigation measures for security trespass were also being investigated.

Underground

Transport for London (TfL) was scheduled to provide an update on Step Free Access projects within Wandsworth Borough. Feasibility studies were underway for Tooting Broadway station and East Putney station. The report pack also mentioned ongoing improvement work to signalling equipment for the District Line route serving East Putney station, aimed at enhancing performance and reliability. Maintenance works on the East Putney Rail Bridges, including cleaning and refurbishment, were also noted as being underway.

Other Business

The report pack indicated that an area of land near the East Putney bridges had been identified as potentially suitable for repurposing as a nature reserve. Further investigatory work was required, and discussions with the Council were anticipated if a partnership for this project was deemed appropriate.

The group was also scheduled to confirm the minutes of the previous meeting held on 25th March 2026 and to consider any matters arising from them. The dates for future meetings of the Passenger Transport Liaison Group were also to be noted.
