The Cabinet of Hertfordshire Council is scheduled to consider proposals for expanding special educational needs provision and a new road safety strategy. Other discussions are expected to cover prostate cancer screening, the demand for health services, and the use of surplus funds for the Herts Innovation Quarter.
Expanding Special Educational Needs Provision
A significant portion of the meeting is scheduled to focus on proposals to enhance provision for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This includes a report on the potential extension of the age range and enlargement of Colnbrook Special School by opening a satellite provision at Woodhall Primary School during the 2027/28 academic year. Approval for the necessary capital funding to deliver this scheme is also scheduled for consideration.
Further reports are set to outline the approval of statutory proposals and the capital funding required to open SEND units at identified schools for pupils with cognition and learning needs during the 2027/28 academic year. These include proposals for units at Shenley Primary School in Radlett, St Mary's Infant School in Baldock, St Peter's C of E VA Primary School in Rickmansworth, Ralph Sadlier Middle School in Ware, and Hitchin Boys School in Hitchin. These items are scheduled to be discussed in Part II ('closed') of the meeting, meaning press and public will be excluded due to the likely disclosure of exempt information relating to financial or business affairs.
Road Safety Strategy
The Cabinet is scheduled to consider the adoption of the Hertfordshire Road Safety Partnership's Road Safety Strategy. This strategy aims to outline the approach to improving road safety across the county.

Two motions are scheduled for discussion. The first concerns prostate cancer screening, with a report from the Chief Fire Officer & Executive Director of Community Protection. The second motion addresses the growing demand for health services in Hertfordshire,
also with a report from the Chief Fire Officer & Executive Director of Community Protection.
Herts Innovation Quarter
