A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to considering nominations for Local Authority Governor vacancies in primary and secondary schools. The report pack outlined the process for these appointments, which involves nominations from school chairpersons, headteachers, and local county councillors. Local Authority Governors are typically appointed for a four-year term.

I would like to nominate Mr Culley to continue on our board of governors for a further four-year term. Mr Culley has been a member of the school's governing body for the last four years and has been very helpful in assisting with the school's finances in using his expertise as an accountant.
The report also highlighted that County Councillors, when elected, can stipulate which school governing bodies they wish to serve on, and their preference takes precedence over non-elected Local Authority governors.
Decision Record of Previous Meeting
The meeting was also scheduled to include the signing of the decision record from the Cabinet Member for Education meeting held on 1 July 2026. This is a standard procedure to confirm the accuracy of the minutes from a prior meeting.
