The Restructuring Implementation Committee of Bath and North East Somerset Council met on Monday 28 September 2026. The primary item scheduled for discussion was a redundancy proposal, which was to be considered in a private session due to the likely disclosure of exempt information.
Redundancy Proposal
The committee was scheduled to consider a redundancy proposal. This item was designated as exempt from public disclosure under the Local Government Act 1972, specifically citing exemptions related to information concerning individuals and information that could reveal an individual's identity. The report pack indicated that the public interest in withholding this information, due to the risk of breaching the Data Protection Act 2018, outweighed the public interest in disclosure. The committee was invited to pass a resolution to exclude the public from this part of the meeting. The report pack noted that similar matters, including executive director appointments and a voluntary redundancy case, had been considered in previous meetings held on 18 May 2026 and 20 May 2026, respectively. In those instances, the Chief Executive was granted delegated authority to appoint successful candidates and to implement redundancy proposals.
