The report proposed additional savings and budget adjustments to manage high-demand services like housing and children's social care. The Cabinet approved the budget updates, aiming to reduce the draw from reserves to £11.4m.
Adult Education Strategic Skills Plan
The Portfolio Holder for Children and Families introduced the Adult Education Strategic Skills Plan, which aims to support adult learners in Cornwall. The plan, developed in consultation with stakeholders, will help tailor skills programs to local needs. The Cabinet approved the plan for submission to the Department for Education.
Future Commissioning Approach for Extra Care Housing and Care Homes
The Portfolio Holder for Adult Social Care and Health presented a report on the future commissioning approach for extra care housing and care homes. The new framework aims to address the demand for accommodation with care for older people, ensuring access to quality housing and support. The Cabinet approved the business cases and delegated authority for contract awards.
Local Authority Declaration on Tobacco Control
The Portfolio Holder for Adult Social Care and Health discussed the Local Authority Declaration on Tobacco Control, reaffirming the Council's commitment to reducing smoking-related harm. The updated declaration aligns with the Government's goal of a smokefree England by 2030. The Cabinet committed to the declaration, aiming to create a smokefree generation.
