The Appointments and Staffing Committee of Tamworth Council met on 12 June 2024 to discuss updates to HR policies, approve the Pay Policy Statement for 2023, and create temporary posts to support the Active Wellbeing initiative. The committee also approved the creation of a new post for the Disabled Adaptations Team and endorsed the findings of an Equal Pay Audit.
HR Policies
The committee reviewed updates to three HR policies: Recruitment and Selection, Reservist, and Secondment. These updates were presented by Jackie Noble, Head of HR and OD. The committee formally approved the updated policies for immediate implementation.
Pay Policy 2023
The committee approved the Pay Policy Statement for 2023, which includes Tamworth Borough Council’s pay scale and adheres to statutory guidance set out in Section 38 of the Localism Act 2011. The statement also incorporates the Gender Pay Gap report. The policy will be presented to the Full Council for adoption and publication.
Appointment of Temporary Active Wellbeing Project Officer and Engagement Officer
Karen Moss, Head of Active Wellbeing, requested the creation of two temporary posts: a one-year fixed term Active Wellbeing Project Officer and a two-year fixed term Active Wellbeing Engagement Officer. The Project Officer post is funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund to boost participation in sports and recreational activities, while the Engagement Officer post is funded by the Contain Outbreak Management Fund to enhance physical activity and wellbeing provisions in Tamworth. Both posts aim to address health inequity in the borough. The committee agreed to appoint both positions.
Staffing Report for Additional Disabled Adaptations Team Staff
The committee approved the creation of a new post within the Disabled Adaptations Team to ensure effective and efficient delivery of disabled adaptations in Tamworth. This decision was based on a report by the Head of Assets.
Equal Pay Audit
The committee reviewed the findings of a recent Equal Pay Audit presented by Jackie Noble, Head of HR and OD. The audit's findings and proposed action plan were endorsed by the committee, which approved the proposed actions to address any disparities.
