Councillor Jane Smith argued, The residents have a right to a peaceful environment, and we must ensure that any business operating late into the night does not disrupt this. In contrast, Councillor John Doe highlighted the economic benefits of supporting local businesses, stating, We need to balance the needs of residents with the importance of fostering a vibrant local economy.

The committee decided to approve the application with the following conditions:

• Reduced operating hours, closing at 11 PM on weekdays and midnight on weekends.
• Installation of soundproofing measures.
• Regular monitoring and reporting of noise levels.

Howe and Co Fish and Chips Licensing Application

The application for Howe and Co Fish and Chips was also discussed. Concerns were raised about the potential increase in traffic and parking issues in the vicinity of the establishment. Local resident Sarah Thompson voiced her concerns, saying, The area is already congested, and adding another food outlet will only exacerbate the problem.

Councillor Emily Brown suggested a traffic impact assessment be conducted before making a final decision. The committee agreed and deferred the application, requesting further information on traffic management and parking solutions.
