The Standards Committee meeting focused on the election of the Chair and Vice Chair for the 2024-2025 municipal year, along with routine procedural matters.
Election of the Chair
The meeting began with the election of the Chair for the 2024-2025 municipal year. Councillor Harp was initially nominated by Councillor Essex, but Councillor Fairhurst proposed Councillor Ashford instead. Councillor Colker seconded Councillor Ashford's nomination. With no other nominations, Councillor Ashford was elected as the Chair.
Election of the Vice Chair
Following the election of the Chair, the committee moved on to elect the Vice Chair. Councillor Harp nominated Councillor Essex, who was seconded and elected unopposed as the Vice Chair for the 2024-2025 municipal year.
Apologies for Absence
Apologies for absence were received from Councillor Hughes. Councillor Lodge attended the meeting virtually.
Approval of Minutes
The minutes of the previous committee meeting held in November 2023 were approved without objections.
Declarations of Interest
No declarations of interest were made by any members of the committee.
Any Other Business
No urgent business was received, and the meeting was concluded at 7:37 pm.
